Congratulations & Blessings to you both!!!
You are now enrolled in the marriage preparation process. There are 7 steps to getting married in the Catholic Church and we want to help you along your way.
Step 1 – Bring in all your documents
This includes our marriage intake form, a copy of your sacrament certificates (Baptism must be a new copy, First Holy Communion & Confirmation) and all legal documents such as your civil marriage certificate and if any, divorce decrees.
Step 2 – Prenuptial Inquiry and Affidavit of Free Status
A short interview will be done. Bride & Groom-to-be along with 2 witnesses each will be interviewed by our office staff. This takes about 20 minutes per person and is a formality to let us know that you are free and happy to make this Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. The witnesses can be family members or friends that knew you before you met your true love.
Step 3 – Complete the FOCCUS inquiry
This inquiry is taken online. You both need to have separate email accounts where the inquiry can be sent. The bride-to-be will complete her portion & then the groom-to-be will complete his portion. They should be done separately to ensure that you are getting the most accurate responses. The results are sent to Fr. Michael. He will then address you if he feels there are any concerns about the results. Please do not stress, this is only a tool to help you in your marriage. FOCCUS has a charge of about $75 per couple. Step 4 – Attend an Engaged Encounters Retreat
This is a weekend retreat designed to supply you with the spiritual guidelines & tools for a productive marriage. You can go to arizonacee.org for more information. Cost for the Engaged Encounter is about $175 per couple. Also see mtclaret.org.

Step 5 – Attend a God’s Plan for a Joy-Filled Marriage Seminar
This day long retreat is one that you don’t want to miss. Receive the tools and learn more in depth how your marriage can be stronger with Christ. Step 6 – Attend an Natural Family Planning class
Yes, we know that this might not be the class you were wanting to take, however we ask that you give it try. Start with the introductory class for all couples, each couple will then be meeting with the instructor to determine their needs from there. To find a class near you please visit www.phxnfp.org. Cost for the NFP sessions is about $130 per couple. First meeting will be as a group, the following meetings will be individual sessions.
Step 7 – Go to confession:
Be sure to see Fr. Michael on Sunday after mass and let him know that you need your confession before you get married.
*Fr. Michael holds his annual Lenten Day of Reflection, retreat & MAY let you substitute this for another retreat.

La novia completará su porción y luego el futuro novio completará su porción. Deben hacerse por separado para garantizar que obtenga las respuestas más precisas. Los resultados se envían al padre. Paso 6 – Asista a una clase de planificación familiar natural
Sí, sabemos que esta no es la clase que quería tomar, pero le pedimos que la pruebe.
